Broadcast Media interest to my work has been varied with work airing on TV1, TV2, TV3, Prime, Sky TV and C4 on the News, Good Morning and Trading Places, with my profile featuring on Dream Jobs and Rugby Focus.

I have also gained editorial attention in The Herald, suburban newspapers, Truth, the Dominion Post and many other international newspapers, magazines and publications.

My artwork has graced the (sometimes-controversial) cover and featured throughout NZ Rugby World magazine 10 times painting some interesting personalities including Bernadine Oliver Kirby, K Lee, Jo Cotton and Nova models.

Winner of Westfield Style Pasifika Fashion awards Creative NZ body art section in 2005.

I have designed body-art for the Qantas media awards dinner 2006, the South Auckland Health/Saatchi and Saatchi Healthy pregnancy awareness campaign 2007, X air, Wearable Art Awards, New Zealand Tourism awards, L’Oreal Colour Trophy, Auckland Museum, the Leukaemia Foundations shave for a cure, and the Vodaphone New Zealand Music Awards.

I have even painted the Greens Member of Parliament Keith Locke for his world famous walk down Newmarket Broadway to back up a promise made to Rodney Hide MP before the election. That stunt gained world wide media attention everywhere from Canada, Singapore, Korea to the USA, The UK and Australia for the body painted naked MP.

​

EXHIBITION HISTORY

1997: Aotea Centre Auckland Town hall- Arts Horizon Exhibition for group show Traditional and modern arts of New Zealand

​

1998: World artists for Tibet group exhibition.

​

2002 – 2003: Musical Knives Restaurant The most famous Auckland vegetarian restaurant run by celebrity chef Peter Chaplan,
Famous TV Chef, personality and personal chef for Madonna, the Pretenders and Thompson Twins. In the 10 years that Peter
had run the restaurant Phil is the first only person to have ever exhibited in Peter’s restaurant.

2003: Veridian Wings Café and bar 1 year solo exhibition.

​

2002: Experimental projection installation mixed with performance and body art, solo and collaborative at live music events
in Auckland and outdoor events. (including Splore etc)

​

2002 -2005: Solo exhibition, continuous and ever changing, at Roasted Addiction cafe for over 3 and a half years. No one had
art there so Phil took over the space for his art, it is now an exhibition space and cafe.

​

2003 -2005: Vermillion art hire, supplied 40 paintings for corporate rental unfortunately too much damage was done to too
many artworks by 2005 to continue.

2004: at Depot Artspace Gallery Devonport. Group Exhibition

​

2004 / 2005 Turning Mobility Group exhibition Fundraiser for artificial limbs for Disabled people in Bali.

​

2004: Random performance art, political satire live Fake TV News. for GE Free day, Stop the war in Iraq.
Culture Jamming. Billboard appropriation.

​

2004: At Depot Artspace Gallery Devonport. Phil inspired and helped organise a fundraiser for the Indian Ocean Tsunami
survivors. This Exhibition made $15,000 for the Tsunami Fund and inspired many other copycat (all good) exhibitions that made more money for the funds.

​

2004 – 2005: 2 years Solo shows at Ecoshow.

​

2005: Adidas Love exhibition, Group exhibition. 1 image displayed.

​

2005: Odeon Cafe and Bar, 2 Solo Exhibitions and 2 group exhibitions at Cafe/bar.

​

2006: Artworks Group Exhibition at the Hilton Hotel, Auckland. Also did public live body painting demonstration.

​

2006 – 2008: Solo exhibition at Tank hair dressers in Kingsland for 2 years. No one had art there so Phil took over the space for my art, it is now an exhibition space and Haircutters. (Update shop changed hands in 2008)

​

2004- 2007:  Erotica Adult lifestyle expo. 3 years self motivated solo shows. Promotes my body art and exhibits artworks alongside my body art as well as in the gallery hall of artworks.

​

2008 China Lions auction. Sent to China 2 artworks for Charity Auction.
Both Sold for 10 000 NZD Total (53 000 Yuan) which gave the sight back to 59 People. this was an exploration of my style in china for the agents we had lined up over there. However with the financial crash – the whole dynamics of the China art market changed. Making the exhibitions cost ineffective and risky to continue.

2009 – Now  Exhibition hiatus – focus on oil painting and the process and creating a new body of work.

​

PUBLICATIONS AND HIGHLIGHTS

1992: Body art festivals in Howick, Northshore and central Auckland,

1st place in three and runner up in 2 body art competitions.
I also won the heats and final in Central Auckland in 1993.

​

1996-1997: Cool Charm Ad,

I painted an international model Xanthe in conjunction with Colenso.
This advertisement was featured in She, More and Girlfriend and other high gloss

national magazines as well as featuring as full size
advertisements for bus stops around Auckland from November 1996 – January

​

1997: Featured as a back cover Inside Front / Back cover, pages and Bus stops.

​

1999: Front cover N.Z. Rugby World.

I painted 5 models for the front cover of the magazine, which took a total of 17
hours to create the very successful image for the N.Z rugby world magazine.

​

2001: Splore festival in association with Free Lunch a specialist performance promotional company.

Painted two performance artists,who performed while being videoed. The video was later edited and mixed to give anew twist to
the video projections and the body art purely for the enjoyment of art by the crowd.

2002: L’Oreal Fashion Colour trophy
I painted 7 models for a Bhuto Dance performance for the filmed show. The colour
award trophy is New Zealand’s premier hair designers award.

​

2002/3/4/5/6/7: Erotica Stunts and images performance and exhibitions
This created much photo attention with just about everyone wanting a photograph with the models.

​

2002: Shave for a Cure – Big Boys Toys in Auckland
Supporting the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation.

​

2002: Qantas,TAANZ awards Travel agent awards

​

2004: Vodaphone New Zealand Music awards, painted 6 modes for performance, hosting and guiding A-list guests Carlos
Spencer and Jonah Lomu onto the stage. Televised.

​

2005: Painted Kieth Locke, MP. For a publicity stunt to keep an election promise.

​

2005/6: Qantas Media awards and print awards. BodyPainted 2 models for performances on stage.

​

2007: Saatchi and Saatchi / South Auckland Health campaign. Created 3 of six pregnant lady images for a huge PR campaign to raise awareness of major pregnancy issues in South Auckland.

​

2007 /8: New Zealand Body Art Awards: Judged by Richard Taylor and Weta team.
New Zealands Premier body art awards event.
Winner Airbrush section 2007 – 2nd Place 2008

​

2007: Westin Hotel Opening painted 4 models who were statues and hosts for the celebrations.

I have also painted many pregnant women to celebrate the new life forming and push boundaries of creativity. I has also won
various body art competitions over the years as well.

TV AND DOCUMENTARIES AND PRESS ARTICALS

1999: Trading Places on TV3
in association with Touchdown productions. I painted a Model and a car wrecker.

2000: Dream Jobs on TV2 in association with Top Shelf Productions.
I painted a model and gave face-to-face interview on the pros and cons of body art.

2008: Phil was interviewed for up coming full length documentary. Interviewed by Philip Tasker-Poland this documentary
explored Phils history as one of the first Body artists to work commercially in New Zealand and projects and visions for the
future.

2002/3/4/5/6: Westfield style pasifika- Body art shown on TV1 and interviewed for show.

2004: NZ Music awards on C4.

2005: Keith Lock on all channels and internet News worldwide. MP gets Painted!!

2007: Rugby focus Show, interviewed for show and behind the scenes to the creation of the 20076 Rugby World Magazine,

World Cup Rugby special issue. Shown on Sky and Prime TV networks.

2008. International Documentary for world film curcut , Featuring all of the best Body art talent in NZ including Weta, etc. For
world release in 2009 in Spain.

1984: First Prize St John Poster competition.

​

1996: Designed and resin cast the Trophies for the NZ Tattoo awards. 24 in 3 sizes were made over three years .

​

1987-1991: Trade certificate in PhotoLithography (Photo engraving) Colour theory, printing theory and practice.

​

1991 -2004: Also completed some advanced computer graphics, scanning andcolour theory education courses.
